Hello dear beautiful voyagers,
I’m embarking on my most ambitious writing project to date and I need your help! I’m looking for a wide range of perspectives from people who have experienced mental breakdowns. My goal is to help readers understand what the landscape of a mental breakdown (a period of weeks or months when you dropped out of work and society) looks like and what the future may hold. If you have any interest in sharing your breakdown story (anonymous or not), please answer the 4 questions below. Thank you for all you do to light the path for other voyagers, Meredith
Please answer these 4 questions about your breakdown experience
Tell the readers a little about yourself—where did you grow up and where do you live now? What do you do for work? What is your family background?
Next, can you tell the readers a little about your breakdown(s)? What age were you? What precipitated it? What did you think and feel as it was happening? What do you think it looked like to others? What did you call it (e.g “nervous breakdown,” etc)? How long did it last? Where did you go and who took care of you?
Can you describe your process of resurfacing after the breakdown? What helped? What, if anything, changed, after?
Did you feel you learned anything from your breakdown? What?
Thank you!
